Glee 2
Charice made her successful debut on the pilot episode of Glee's second season, which was aired on Fox Channel Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila).
Charice plays the character of Sunshine Corazon, a Filipino exchange student who proves to be a vocal threat to the show’s lead character, Rachel, played by Lea Michele.
In the show’s first episode, Rachel wants Sunshine to join the McKinley High glee club "New Directions" but changes her mind after realizing that Sunshine could be a threat to her status as lead singer. She gives Sunshine the address to a crackhouse but is reprimanded by her fellow Glee club members.
Sunshine does get to audition with a show-stopping rendition of the hit song "Listen" from the Broadway musicale "Dreamgirls." Unfortunately, Rachel's scheming backfires and Sunshine joins the rival glee club "Vocal Adrenaline" after being promised a condo and a green card for her and her mom.
Hours after the airing of the season premiere of Glee, Charice thanked her supporters.
She tweeted: “Thank you mga Kapamilya for all the support.”
She added: "Thank you to all my kababayan! Mahal ko po kayong lahat. Chasters!! Thank you so much for everything. Thank you lovely people. I love y'all."
The mic
Aside from her singing prowess, many fans also commented on Charice's use of a personalized microphone.
In her audition scene, wherein she sang "Listen," it clearly showed that Charice used a swarovski-filled microphone.
Charice's personal microphone was made by Sennheiser, a leading audio electronics brand in Germany, and costs $699.
Last year, Sennheiser Philippines launched the Charice International Limited Edition Microphone. Charice is the brand ambassador for Sennheiser in the Philippines.
Aside from Charice, international stars like Beyonce and Celine Dion are also endorsers of Sennheiser.
